In 2020, Columbus Café (with 250 coffee shops in France and abroad) entrusted its global rebranding project to the agency Les Bons Faiseurs.
I had the opportunity to develop the brand’s food illustrations as well as the menu design.
The goal was to convey Columbus Café’s key value: Conviviality. For this, I chose a loose and sketchy graphic universe.
This series of food illustrations, for the menu boards, as well as portraits of people from the headquarters in colored pencil, marks a departure from the previous style. The illustrations bring a new spontaneity to the Columbus visual identity.

For a restaurant chain like Columbus Café, illustrated menu boards are a significant asset. Indeed, visualizing the menu options helps the customer make choices more easily.
Your menu should guide through good visual structure and information hierarchy. But it should also convey your brand’s universe, reassure the customer about the quality, and make them hungry! 😋
This is where food illustrations come into play, adding deliciousness to the menu. Here, the flagship products are illustrated prominently, in a simplified manner. The key is to choose a graphic style that aligns with your brand. ✨
Illustrated posters to showcase the brand's CSR commitments
One of our goal, creating Columbus café branding, was to convey their values to customers, the Columbus Café chain offered its franchisees posters to decorate their stores. I illustrated this series of posters for coffee shops across France and Quebec.
The visual system ensures consistency across all its stores.
The posters highlight strategic themes for the brand such as flagship products, showcasing the staff, or their CSR commitments.
